The path to now -- Islander by Choice

• 11 months in Charleston, South Carolina
  
• 17 years in Wharton, Texas 77488
  
• 6 years in Houston (at Rice University and working for the Texas State Welfare Dept.)
  
• about 20 years in Boston area with Brandeis and Simmons for degrees
  
• 14 months in Liberia (middle of the Boston years) for fieldwork for Anth dissertation
  
• 20 years in Baltimore at Johns Hopkins (Eisenhower and Welch Libraries) + Villa Julie and University of Maryland College Park (teaching)
  
  At which point friends kept dying and moving away so I retired and...

... in 2019 I returned to Texas for the final twenty years (more or less)
